Eastern Red Columbine
Aquilegia canadensis
Early flowering Columbine provides nectar for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds in spring. Its showy blooms are a blend of red to yellow, with foliage that makes an attractive ground cover once the blooms are spent. Columbine is easy to grow in part shade to full sun with adequate moisture, and will self-seed for additional plants the following year.
